Problems

PROTEIN is focused on the resolution of optimization problems in the bioinformatics field. For this purpose, we use parallelism-based technologies (cluster computing, multi-core computing, etc.) along with multiobjective metaheuristics. We will also study the combination among techniques (hybridization) and the use of problem-aware operations.

Bioinformatics problems addressed in PROTEIN are:

• Phylogenetic inference.
• Multiple sequence alignment.
• Discovery of patterns (motifs) in biological sequences.
• Detection of high-order epistasis.
